IVANIĆ-GRAD INFO
The city of Ivanić-Grad is situated in western Moslavina next to the River Lonja in the Zagreb County, not far from Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. It covers the surface area of 173.57 km 2 and counts around 14,500 citizens and 22 settlements. Ivanić-Grad was first mentioned back in the 13 th century. The settlement of Ivanić-Grad, once known as Donji Ivanić, grew from the Ivanić fortress built on the River Lonja in the middle of the 16 th century at a site which once served as a trading centre during the fairs. 8 th June marks the city’s day because it was on that date that Franz Joseph signed the decree proclaiming the trading centre a city.
